Migrate an XC panel, step by step.

A practical checklist for moving a running panel to streamars. Most of it happens while XC keeps serving, and subscribers only notice the last step, if they notice it at all.

  1. Install streamars on a new server

Set up the panel on a fresh Linux server with the one-line installer and start the free trial. Leave the XC panel running: nothing changes for subscribers yet.

  2. Export the XC database

Take a dump of the XC MySQL database with mysqldump, unchanged, or create a read-only MySQL user the wizard can read from directly.

  3. Run the import as a dry run

In the admin panel open System, Import from XC, and upload the dump or connect to the database. The analysis lists every line, reseller, bouquet, channel, movie and server it found, with warnings, and writes nothing.

  4. Review and import

Check the report, pick who owns lines without a reseller, then start the import. It runs in the background with live progress, and the page can be closed and reopened.

  5. Check before anyone moves

Open a few lines, resellers and bouquets. Play channels and movies with a test line in a player. Resellers whose passwords could not be carried over are listed, with a shortcut to set a new one.

  6. Install your load balancers

The XC load-balancer servers come across as servers to install. Install the streamars load balancer on each from the panel; it can run beside the XC one on another port until you switch.

  7. Refresh right before you switch

Freeze changes on the XC panel, then run the import again. A refresh brings lines, packages and bouquets up to date and touches only the rows the import created.

  8. Point your domain

Lower the DNS TTL a day ahead, then point the panel's domain at the new server. Players reconnect with the same address, username and password.

  9. Keep the old panel for a few days

Leave XC switched off but intact. If something is wrong you can point the domain back while you fix it. Lines created on streamars in the meantime do not exist on XC, so keep that window short.

Three things to watch.

  • Keep the same ports

Players carry the port in every URL. The import takes over the XC panel's ports, and the wizard tells you how to make the new server answer on them.

  • Reseller passwords

Resellers keep their usernames. Where the old password cannot be carried over, the panel lists them so you can set a new one or send a reset link.

  • Movie files

The import records where each movie and episode file is but never copies a file. If your files live on the XC servers, plan how they reach the new ones, and write to us before you start.

Start with a dry run.

Install streamars during the free trial and run the import as often as you like. Nothing is written until you approve it.
